The Alamo Colleges District in San Antonio, Texas, invites applications for its next Chief of Police. This is a unique opportunity to lead a fully accredited law enforcement agency serving one of the nation’s largest and most diverse community college systems. The Chief will be central to advancing safety, trust, and community partnerships across a thriving higher education environment.

Founded in 1945, the Alamo Colleges District includes San Antonio College, St. Philip’s College, Palo Alto College, Northwest Vista College, and Northeast Lakeview College. Together, they educate tens of thousands of students annually with a mission to deliver affordable, high-quality education and workforce training.
The Alamo Colleges Police Department (ACPD) provides comprehensive law enforcement and security services across campuses in Bexar and Guadalupe counties. With 125 authorized staff, including 101 sworn officers, ACPD operates a Criminal Investigations Division and a 24/7 Emergency Communications Center.
The next Chief of Police will be a visible, approachable leader who builds trust through presence, engagement, and transparency. The role requires an operationally seasoned, crisis-ready leader who understands the balance between public safety priorities and the mission of higher education. A commitment to officer development, wellness, equity, and inclusion is essential.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field. Ten years of progressive law enforcement experience, with at least five in a supervisory or management role.
