Job Summary:
The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for providing law enforcement services within assigned neighborhoods while operating in a community- and intelligence-led policing environment. Deputies act under the authority of the Sheriff to enforce laws, maintain order, and serve legal process with professionalism and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve writs, warrants, summonses, and civil papers.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to ensure legal and proper service of process.
Apply Florida law in the service of all process, including those issued from other states.
Review all process prior to service for accuracy and compliance.
Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Provide calm responses in volatile or stressful situations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Selection Criteria:
Graduation from high school or possession of a State of Florida-recognized High School Equivalency Diploma.
Associates or Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university (preferred).
Must be currently Florida Certified in Law Enforcement.
No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving perjury or false statements.
No dishonorable or other-than-honorable discharge from any branch of the Armed Forces.
Ability to perform duties in accordance with agency standards.
Valid Florida drivers license.
