- Law Enforcement Deputy (Reserve)
Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to calls and complaints, including automobile accidents, domestic disturbances, misdemeanors, and felonies.
Serve writs, warrants, summonses, and civil papers.
Enforce traffic laws and regulations.
Conduct preliminary investigations, gather witnesses and evidence, make arrests, and transport prisoners.
Testify in court regarding arrests and investigations.
Maintain assigned records and equipment.
Develop proficiency in specialized areas of assignment.
Attend required in-service training for full-time deputies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Selection Criteria:
Must be a Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officer.
Completion of the Minimum Standards Course required by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
Successful completion of the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP).
Completion of a one (1) year probationary period.
Reserve Deputy I:
Volunteer role appointed by the Sheriff.
Serves under direct supervision of a certified Deputy Sheriff, Reserve Deputy II, or other designated law enforcement officer.
Must meet all qualifications required by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC).
Reserve Deputy II:
Volunteer role appointed by the Sheriff.
Meets the same training requirements as full-time law enforcement officers, as prescribed by the Florida CJSTC.
May work independently after completing the Field Training and Evaluation Program.
Must meet all qualifications required by the Florida CJSTC.
