People & Culture Advisor- Corporate
As a hands-on HR practitioner, you are accountable for supporting the full cycle of the employee journey, including doing the day-to-day human resources functions such as recruitment, on-boarding, support to the training function, payroll back up, compensation, performance management, etc. You provide ongoing coaching and support to the leaders, establishing yourself as the expert for all human resources related matters.
Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
- Responsible for the execution of the entire recruitment process from job posting through to offers, onboarding process, orientation program, performance management and development processes, talent management and retention program.
- Continuously work with leaders to ensure effective and efficient staffing requirements are maintained.
- Oversee employee performance monitoring and collaborate with leaders to evaluate underperforming employees.
- Support employee engagement by ensuring consistent alignment of all HR processes, practices, behaviours and employee relations.
- Work directly with management and the Employee Committee, proactively identifying needs, concerns and opportunities.
- Participate and support the delivery team for the New Hire Orientation in coordination with Learning & Development/OH&S Coordinator.
- Work in conjunction with the Occupational Health and Safety/Learning and Development Coordinator to ensure learning needs within the organization are met and documented in The Learning Centre (TLC).
- Ensures that employee needs are supported with in the community, addressing employee concerns and needs, incident investigations, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, etc.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives including process improvement, policy development, administration and interpretation of HR policies, procedure and programs.
- Support HR Advisor, Analytics in analyzing HR Data, make recommendations and report out quarterly statistics.
- Support the Payroll process and act as a back up to the Payroll and HR Coordinator.
- Work with the HR Advisor, Analytics to research and implement best practice compensation practices.
- Research, implement and understand the impacts of applicable legislation and regulation changes impacting UAL. Recommend appropriate actions in regards to upcoming changes and continued compliance.

Requirements
- Qualifications
A university degree in business with a concentration in human resources (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience) - A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in human resources
- CPHR designation in good standing or working towards (preferred).
- Effective communications skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Solid business acumen and customer focus.
- Confident professional with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, demanding environment.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to positively engage employees and leaders in maintaining good employee relations.
- Proven success in team building and collaboration through the use of excellent interpersonal skills; ability to foster an atmosphere of trust, support, creativity and innovation
- Exhibit professionalism and sound judgment.
- Experience in a multi-site environment is an asset.
- Strong analytical and staff budgeting experience
- Up to date knowledge of applicable Alberta legislation and regulations.
- Ability to travel in the Calgary area with valid class 5 driver’s license.
Work Environment
Work required ability to work a flexible schedule.
Onsite position located in community. Travel between communities required.
