The King Cove Police Department is currently seeking TWO (2) certified police officers to join our dedicated team. As a police officer with the King Cove Department of Public Safety, you will have the unique opportunity of responding to emergency calls for Police, Fire, and EMS services, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.Position: Police Officer King Cove Department of Public Safety
- $75K-$85K (DOE) for Certified Officer
- 10-hour shifts (with full staffing)
- Up to $3000 in moving expense reimbursement
- Up to $1000 uniform allowance, as needed
- Free family housing with ALL utilities included
- Take home vehicle provided
Qualifications: a Certified Police Officer must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Be U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Have been certified as a law enforcement officer in Alaska or another state
- Meet Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) background requirements for certification or possess an APSC Basic Certification or higher. Learn more about APSC certification here.
- Successfully complete the two-week APSC Equivalency Course within one year of employment if candidate is an out-of-state lateral
- Have good command of English, both written and verbal
- Possess a valid Alaska driver's license or the ability to obtain one
- Have no felony arrests, to include Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, or Drug Distribution
- Possess normal color vision, and visual acuity of not less than 20/100 in each eye, corrected to 20/20 in better eye and 20/30 in lesser eye
- Be able to meet and maintain department standards for firearm qualification and all applicable State and Federal laws to possess and carry a firearm
Responsibilities:
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws, maintaining peace and order within the community
- Provide timely and efficient emergency response, ensuring the safety of individuals in need
- Generate detailed written reports, conduct interviews, and testify at court proceedings, contributing to the justice system
