Rakuten's Global DPO Office is dedicated to ensuring compliance with global privacy laws and regulations across all our operations. We believe that robust privacy and data protection are essential for building a sustainable, data-driven society where innovation and trust converge. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Project Manager to play a critical role in shaping and executing our privacy strategy and operations.

Position:

Position Details

- Define project implementation, milestones, goals and objectives, relevant stakeholders, and roles and responsibilities of team members.

- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders with regular status/progress updates; ensure that all stakeholders are in agreement.

- Identify internal and external stakeholders, understand their communication requirements, and fulfill those requirements.

- Manage multiple mid to large scale projects, including external and internal events, ensuring that they will complete on time and within budget, and that the solution aligns with/meets the business objectives.

- Manage the daily/weekly project team assignments and monitor progress against the work plan to ensure that objectives are met.

- Identify risks, define mitigations, and escalate both in a timely manner.

- Manage operational tasks of the projects and DPO office necessary for the effective functioning of the team and the projects.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- 3 years' experience as a Project Manager.

- Experience implementing business operations requirements.

- Experience working with cross-functional and diverse teams.

- Proactive and action-oriented.

- Strong cross-functional communication skills.

- Open-minded and respectful of all cultures, genders, ethnicities, abilities, ages, and backgrounds.

- Interest in Privacy and willingness to expand one's knowledge about Privacy.

- Motivated to live in Japan and adapt to Japanese cultures and values and learn Japanese (for non-Japanese applicants).

- Self-motivated and willing to take creative approaches to drive projects forward.

- Ability to assess team dynamics as well as the motivations of different people, navigate any challenges that arise, and influence others successfully.

- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) and ability to use and integrate AI into daily work.

- Business-level proficiency in English, Japanese language skills are an advantage.

Desired Qualifications:

- Understanding of privacy laws and relevant challenges.

- Experience with compliance and business efficiency tools such as OneTrust, Archer, JIRA, and Domo.

- Japanese language level equivalent N2 or above is a plus.

- Experience living, working, studying, and/or travelling in different countries, across different cultures.
