• Must be at least 21 years of age

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must meet all Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) requirements.
  Must meet all Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) requirements specified in the online assessment.
  
  
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Florida Driver's License prior to employment.
  
  
• Must present proof of automobile insurance and be free from “at fault” accidents or convictions for violation(s) of traffic law to include adjudication withheld for the past twelve (12) months.  A good driving record will include no Driver’s License suspensions in the past one (1) year. 
  
  
• Able to perform the essential functions of the job for which applying with or without reasonable accommodation.
  
  
• Corrections Department employees are required to work overtime, with and without notice, and must be available for emergency call-in overtime.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates applying for this position must be willing and able to successfully complete the following:

• PBSO Field Training Program (FTO)
• New Appointment Training: A 16 Week Training course, involving (4) 10-hour work days.  Training includes a combination of High Liability and Classroom curriculum. The training also includes some afternoon and night shift portions.
• Field Training for 6 weeks.  This training schedule is flexible and will consist of day and night shifts.

SALARY: Starting Salary: $74,712 (Pay Grade 290, Step 1)
 *Candidates' with (3) or more years of Certified Corrections experience - Starting Salary: $81,600 (Pay Grade 290, Step 3)

NOTE:  Sworn members who are presently assigned to a specialty unit as defined in any Collective Bargaining Agreement are eligible to apply for other opportunities within the agency upon the successful completion of one (1) year of service at their present assignment. SELECTION PROCESS:  Oral Board Interview which will constitute 100% of the final pass/fail selection weight.  All offers of employment to external applicants and internal part-time to full-time or civilian to sworn candidates are also subject to and contingent upon successful completion of the CVSA/polygraph, background investigation, pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.

REVIEW AND APPEAL PROCESS:   An appeal of a decision, scoring error, or test results shall be made in writing to the Human Resources Division Manager or designee within seven (7) calendar days after the release of any score or decision that eliminated the candidate from the process, or affected the candidate's score.  This appeal process is the only method to appeal these matters and is available to internal PBSO applicants exclusively.
