Opened in 2025 and powered by a University of South Florida record $40 million gift from Arnie and Lauren Bellini, USF’s Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Computing is the first in Florida, and among the first in the nation, to unify AI, cybersecurity, and computing within a single college. More than 65 faculty members focus on cutting-edge research and educating 3,000+ bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students across 15 degree programs in computer science, cybersecurity, AI, information technology, and computer engineering. The college emphasizes industry-relevant education and experiential learning to prepare students for real-world challenges. It also serves as the central hub for AI and cybersecurity research and teaching at USF, collaborating with colleges and units across the university. The Bellini College at USF is seeking a Career Advisor to support undergraduate students in achieving academic and professional success. A key focus of this position is to help students get degree-related internships in their junior-year summer and high-paying, degree-related jobs on graduation. You will be part of a collaborative advising team, working alongside multiple professional advisors and success coaches. Your responsibilities will include guiding students through course selection, degree planning, and specialization choices, with an emphasis on career development support through resume reviews, technical interview preparation, and networking opportunities. You will also foster connections with industry and research opportunities, helping students launch careers in tech or pursue graduate studies. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of the tech industry and job market, and a passion for helping students overcome academic and professional challenges so that they can be successful on graduation. Responsibilities
Advise lower-level Bellini College students on career awareness with respect to their curriculum and courses. Conduct group and individual advising sessions to support students academic success and career goals. Work to identify and address barriers hindering student progress towards an internship and job at graduation. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all students graduate within four years and secure degree-related employment in a company or government agency, or gain acceptance to graduate school, by the time they graduate. Advise upper-level Bellini College students in identifying and pursuing their post-graduation goals. Advise students for job searches by helping students find employment opportunities and providing guidance on resume writing and interview preparation. This role may also involve, in coordination with other staff and units on campus, organizing on-campus events with companies and government agencies to connect students with potential employers. This role will entail engaging with student organizations to coordinate company events focused on hiring. Provide individual and group advising to Bellini College undergraduate students, particularly during peak advising periods. Offer guidance on academic requirements, course selection, policies, procedures, and available campus resources. Utilize USF information systems (such as Banner, OASIS, and Degree Works) to deliver effective advising services and maintain confidential student records. Support new student enrollment by participating in Orientation and other college and university activities with other advisors. Support graduation check-out procedures with other advisors, with a continued focus on employment or graduate school. 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or academic field directly related to the Advisor’s specific responsibilities with two years of experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement for this position.

Preferred Requirements

In addition to the minimum requirements, preferred is a background in either human resources or technical recruiting in the tech area with an interest in transitioning to a more academic role. 

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
