This newly created part-time role (0.6–0.8 FTE) offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of physiotherapy education in Australia, ensuring programs are innovative, high-quality and aligned with best practice standards.

About the role
This senior advisory position provides expert academic and strategic guidance across APA’s education portfolio, ensuring that educational programs, career pathways and frameworks are conceptually sound, strategically aligned and responsive to professional and accreditation standards.
You will play a key role in shaping curriculum and assessment design, advising on education strategy and ensuring the academic integrity of programs such as our Professional Development offerings, Specialist Training Program, Fellowship programs, Titling pathways and broader career development initiatives.
Requirements
Key responsibilities:
Provide high-level academic guidance and strategic input into education frameworks and career pathways.
Support curriculum design, assessment development and accreditation processes to uphold educational quality and compliance.
Engage with academic, professional and industry stakeholders to ensure APAs education offerings meet evolving professional needs.
Advise on educational frameworks, assessment strategies and continuous quality improvement in education.
Contribute to the integration of professional development within structured career pathways.
About you and selection criteria
Education and experience:
Registered physiotherapist with Ahpra (without conditions).
Postgraduate qualification in education or an equivalent field.
10+ years of experience in physiotherapy education, including at least 5 years in an academic leadership role.
Recognised leadership and experience in a field of physiotherapy practice.
Experience with professional accreditation processes and education quality assurance.
Proven expertise in curriculum innovation, teaching and assessment development.
Strong ability to collaborate with education teams, senior executives and external stakeholders.
Skills:
Strong and strategic leadership with a passion for education and professional development
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities to drive educational innovation
Ability to work autonomously while fostering collaboration and teamwork
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and leadership.
Highly Desirable:
Doctorate (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
Titling and/or Specialist recognition within APA’s professional development pathways
Personal attributes:
Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges and opportunities in physiotherapy education
Creative and solutions-focused, bringing fresh thinking to curriculum design and educational strategy
Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to inspire and guide others
Collaborative and inclusive, fostering strong relationships and bringing stakeholders along the journey
Self-motivated and able to work autonomously while maintaining high levels of accountability
