Description

Reporting to the HR Manager, Business Partners, this full-time position based in Calgary is an instrumental part of the HR team, working closely with Superintendents and employees to enable HR work and projects for Canadian Operations.  This position requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, and reliable individual who has the ability to work in a fluid environment while managing multiple priorities. The position requires regular travel to the Gahcho Kué mine site in the Northwest Territories at a minimum of once a month on employee charter flights out of Calgary.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with HR Coordinators and Payroll to provide day to day support for the Gahcho Kué Mine Site;
  • Handling HR inquiries sent through from the HR Coordinators via internal HR inbox;
  • Handling all short-term disability paperwork with guidance from HRBP team;
  • Handling all absenteeism paperwork as it relates to missed flights or other types of leaves;
  • Reviewing payroll bi-weekly with follow up on outstanding time approval for Gahcho Kué Mine Site;
  • Supporting on various assigned HR projects including system implementations and policy reviews;
  • Developing collaborative relationships with the business supervisory teams, to understand the day-to-day business needs and issues, site/location specific culture, hiring processes and compensation practices;
  • Supporting the achievement of De Beers diversity and community objectives, in particular with respect to Northern and Indigenous hires;
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation relating to HR activities such as payroll and salary administration to ensure they meet legal and audit requirements; and
  • Working with HR Advisors and HR Manager, as well as business supervisors, in order to support the achievement of HR objectives.

This is a remote hybrid position.



Requirements

  • University Degree in Human Resources Management, Commerce or equivalent with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a generalist in a fully integrated human resources capacity;
  • Ability to manage competing demands, and operate through focus, self-direction, initiative, and sense of urgency to see projects through to completion;
  • Team player with ability to deliver quality customer service to all levels within the organization;
  • Strong computer skills is required including knowledge of MS Office, SAP and Success Factors;
  • Experience and familiarity with the Canadian mining industry with operations at remote sites in Canadian geography, culture and environments is preferable;
  • Sound organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills are essential;
  • Detailed and highly organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential materials and matters;
  • Strong time management skills in order to deal with multiple time sensitive issues and the ability to work in a lean, fast-paced, dynamic work environment; and
  • Regular travel to the Gahcho Kué mine site in the Northwest Territories.
